Looking for a Home Site

Site Trees 2008Location, Location, Location!

The most important item when selecting a home site, or a home, is location.  But the terrain of a home site is also important, and the features of the land, and what’s already on / above /under the ground.

The factors that were most important to us in our lot search were:

  • Distance from our church
  • Access to highways
  • Cost (land prices were about $50,000/acre)
  • Trees (we wanted a woodland setting)

Other factors that typically make lots attractive to home builders are:

  • Level ground (lower excavation costs)
  • Existing utility lines (lower connection costs)
  • Cleared land (lower site preparation costs)
